My adopted big sister Jackie Crowell is making me feel guilty for neglecting my racing blog because she has taken up writing her's again. Granted, Jackie has a much more interesting cycling life than I do, competing in the Netherlands, China and Qatar (wherever that is), but that doesn't mean that I can't write about my racing in good ol' la Floridia.
I enjoy writing articles for Florida Racing/Cycling Magazine that summarize the womens races, and I especially appreciate the positive feedback I get from readers, but writing race reports for a magazine is limiting in ways that a personal blog is not. For instance, here on my blog I can complain about how I've gained 2 pounds recently, and how I ran to my mother begging her to tell me that it's muscle and not all of the Klondike bars I've been eating lately (They were 2 for 1 at Publix, what can I say?). Somehow, I don't think most people would enjoy reading about that in a racing magazine.
My racing has been good so far this season, I've already accumulated 8 wins in the Women 3/4 category, (including Webster Roubaix for the second year in a row!) and I've started racing Women 1-3 in the shorter races. It's a whole different mindset racing with the stronger women... but I should save that for a later blog post.
Gotta go for a ride at Wekiva this evening, and I'll probably spend most of the time on the bike gossiping with my teammate while her dad tries to make us suffer up hills.
